We made a visit to check it out ourselves! Mercy Hair, located close to Kyung Hee University, has amazing hair designers who style your hair until you look like the next goddess in town at affordable prices. Why We Recommend It
Mercy Hair has a long history. First opening its doors in 1981, it's been around the hair game for almost 4 decades!
Mercy Hair operates 3 branches near Kyung Hee University.
The 3rd branch, easy to spot right by the university gate, is directed by Hwang Jeong-eun, a renowned hair designer who graduated from Vidal Sassoon Academy in the UK and spent a long time working in the celebrity district of Cheongdamdong in Seoul.
The salon is airy and clean while the staff are friendly and skilled.
Mercy Hair is also a place where many prospective hair designers come to get trained.

Mercy Hair is open everyday except for Chuseok and New Year's holidays.
Appointments are available for reservation 3 days in advance.
Please bring a photo of the hairstyle you'd like to get done. If communication in Korean is difficult, leave it to the designer to style your hair according to the photo!
Free cancellation is available until 3 days before the reservation date.
The prices may change depending on the style you pick. The designer will consult you with an exact price before styling your hair.

One person can make reservation for 2 or more products.

Our Visit
Our editor headed to Mercy Hair to try their services out herself. We went to the 3rd branch, which just opened its doors close to KHU's main gate. Let's take a look around!
The above is the view from the front door. We visited on a rainy weekday during the monsoon season, so they didn't have a lot of clients. The 3rd branch was very spacious, bright and clean.
There are magazines in the waiting area where you can get inspirations for your next hairstyle. There are power sockets at the end of the table where you can charge your phone and laptop.
You also get a complimentary drink like coffee, lemon tea and barley tea.
They also have lots of hair care products available for sale. If you're looking for a certain product, ask the staff!
What we liked about Mercy Hair is not only the expansive, modern space, but how sparkling clean the space was. The staff sweep and clean the place often so there's no hair or dust flying around, nor does it smell of hair chemicals. Overall, the space was very pleasant.
Let's take a look at my hair colouring journey now!
First, the staff helped me put on the long gown.
The above picture shows the hair before getting coloured. The previous dye had been a while so it had the typical brassy tone that needed care. We didn't know what colour to go with, so we went with the designer's recommendation of a popular colour in Korea.
Next step was lifting the colour up. The staff were very prompt and efficient, and the bleach didn't touch the root so it didn't have the typical stinging sensation.
Then, applying pink dye to the inner layers of the hair.
They repeated the dying process until our editor looked like an octopus.
Tada! This was the end result after washing the hair. It really looks a lot nicer, doesn't it?
The staff added finishing touches by curling the hair. What a spectacular transformation!
Before and after
It's been a week since the colouring. Our editor has been using purple shampoo to maintain the beautiful pink hues on her hair. The hair was impressively undamaged, it's looking healthy.

Cross the street and turn left.
When you see No Brand Burger, cross diagonally.
