Our Visit

Aroma Forest Incheon Guwol branch is seen right away as soon as you get off the elevator on the 4th floor where CGV is. You can even catch a movie with your friends after or before making your own perfume so it's the perfect place to be!

This counter outside the store has a display of diffusers where people passing by can stop and try out different scents. They sell 66 various scents of luxury brands at a very affordable price, so there are people who walk by the area that end up leaving the store with their own perfume bottles!

Since the price is so affordable, we thought it was worth it to stop by and make our own perfumes- something we've never done before. If you want to pick a perfume at a department store, you have to walk around a lot to find one that works best for you but here, all the scents are gathered in one place so it's convenient to pick a scent that grabs my attention.

At the entrance of the store, there are various fragrances such as natural diffusers, textile perfumes, car diffusers, and sprays. If you make a reservation through Creatrip, you can receive a cute car diffuser.

First, you need to decide whether to make the 50ml or 30ml perfume bottle. The empty bottle on the left side in the photo above is 50ml and on the right is 30ml. Since it was my first time making my own perfume, I decided to pick the 30 ml bottle. (I later ended up regretting this decision because I liked my scent so much I wished I had picked a bigger option.)

After you have chosen what bottle you want, you can try smelling each scent. It was so overwhelming at first because there were so many options so I told the staff what type of perfumes I like and she gave me some great recommendations.

These are the scents that were recommended! Since it was personally recommended by the perfumer based on my tastes, I liked them all. If you know what perfume you like, you can tell them the name of your favorite perfume. Or if you're not sure, you can describe what type of scents you like (woody, musky, floral, sweet, etc) and they'll recommend you the best options. 

At Aroma Forest, their perfume ingredients are also used in famous perfumes such as Lanvin and Diptyque, so I liked them a lot before mixing my options. The number of my favorite scents started growing super quickly.

I liked these four scents but it was so hard to narrow it down from here. At this point, I couldn't tell if my sense of smell had been overwhelmed or if they started to smell worse.

So I was given some coffee beans to give my nose a reset and it helped tremendously.

After that, I carefully picked two scents. I chose a floral Chance Eau Tendre Chanel type and a fruity Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Nil type. I wanted to use a perfume that's both refreshing and sweet and I was really looking forward to how it was going to turn out because the scents were just what I was looking for.

After picking the scents, you can put them on a scale and mix the fragrances slowly, a little bit at a time. At Aroma Forest, the fragrance purity was more than 20%, and it contains the strongest notes of perfume/eau de parfum/eau de toilette. So even if you spray a small amount, its strong scent will last for more than 12 hours. (Of course, if you like light scents, you can tell the staff you prefer a mild scent).

You're looking at my friend here who has a high passion for perfume, filling up 20% of his bottle with only one scent. He took about 5 to 10 minutes to make his own perfume.

This is me mixing my scents super carefully a little by little at a time. First, I mixed it 1g at a time, then I found the portions that I wanted. The closer it got to the exact type of scent I wanted, the more careful I got.

When you're done with the fragrance, you need to fill the rest of the bottle with alcohol and mix it. 

Next, you need to choose the color you want and add the color. I picked this yellow-orange shade, but it just became yellow. 

My friend picked green and his turned out prettier.

When it was done, they gave us these pretty stickers to stick on top! It took me about an hour to finish my perfume.

When I smelt it as soon as I was done making it, I liked it so much that I put it on myself immediately. And now I used it daily! I made my own perfume so it's even more special to me and I wanted to make an even better one next time.

How To Get There

Get off at Culture & Arts Center Station on Incheon line 1 and walk out of exit 1. If you continue walking straight forward, you'll arrive at the CGV building about 5 minutes away.

Go up the stairs and turn right to the entrance of the building.

Take the elevator to the 4th floor.

Walk out of the elevator and continue walking straight in the corridor.
