Did you know that at Korean convenience stores such as CU, GS25, and 7-Eleven, there are newly released items every month that you can look forward to?

You can check out our review of May's new releases here.

We're back this month to introduce new releases for the month of June. Here is our honest review!

GS25

GS25 new releases for June on a wooden tray

# Egg Mayo Pocket

Egg Mayo Packet sandwich on a wooden tray

Price: 2,200 won

Starting off we have the Egg Mayo Pocket Sand.

The pocket sand describes a pocket-shaped sandwich that is made by filling two bread sheets with various ingredients and pressing the edges together.

The main advantage of this is that the filling doesn't leak through the bread so it's very clean and convenient to eat.

GS25 released Egg Mayo Pocket Sand and Hot Chicken Pocket Sand.

I like the taste of egg mayo, so I decided to pick up the egg mayo flavor at the store.

The bread was soft and it tasted very savory.

The egg mayo in between the bread was also tasty. However, it contained too little egg mayo that it just tasted like eating plain bread.

I was quite disappointed but it's good to grab as a snack when you're on the go and looking for something light to fill up your stomach.

# Black Sugar Cream Roll

Black Sugar Cream Roll from GS25

Price: 3,500 won

GS25 and Tiger Sugar, a premium milk tea brand, collaborated together to launch the Black Sugar Cream Roll.

GS25 is widely known among Koreans for its cream rolls as they're soft and delicious.

I used to buy their sweet and soft cream rolls often at GS25 so I was looking forward to trying this new product.

This cream roll did not disappoint!

It was even more delicious than I expected.

The bread on the outside was very soft and fluffy. It had a strong taste of brown sugar.

The cream filling inside tasted like Tiger Sugar's black sugar and it was very delicious.

If you like the sweetness of black sugar at Tiger Sugar we highly recommend this dessert with an Americano.

# Red Melon Ice

Red Melon Ice from GS25

Price: 3,000 won

GS25 launched its new shaved ice flavor, red melon for the summer!

The Red Melon Ice is a sweet and refreshing shaved ice that's cantaloupe melon flavored.

I thought it would be great to eat whenever I'm craving fresh fruit shaved ice.

If you open the lid, you'll see red melon syrup with vanilla ice cream.

Isn't the vanilla ice cream so cute because it's shaped like a flower?

Grab a spoon and scoop it up with the melon syrup, vanilla ice cream, and shaved ice!

I tried the ice cream, syrup, and shaved ice together.

The combination of the syrup with soft ice cream and crunchy shaved ice was very refreshing.

It smelt like melon and it tasted like Melona, a famous Korean melon ice cream.

CU

new released from CU on a wooden tray

CU did not release a lot of new items this month.

So I'll introduce one product released by CU and two products released by the Korean snack brand Orion.

# Chocolate Rocher Cake

Chocolate Rocher Cake from CU

Price: 3,300 won

Chocolate Rocher Cake is CU's new dessert for the month of June.

The name rocher reminds me of Ferrero Rocher!

It's a slice of cake made with 3 types of chocolate: dark, milk, and hazelnut.

The cake consists of 6 layers in total.

The top is a thick chocolate coating that tastes like Ferrero Rocher.

There is white and dark chocolate cream between the soft and moist chocolate bread so it's a very delicious slice of cake that allows you to enjoy various chocolate flavors at once.

It didn't taste like it was from a convenience store, but more like it was from a cafe.

I highly recommend it to those that like dark chocolate desserts.

# Mint Choco Pie

Mint Choco Pie CU on a wooden tray

Price: 2,500 won

Mint choco pie is a mint chocolate dessert launched for the summer of 2021 by Orion.

With the popularity of mint chocolate rising higher each day, it seems that Orion released a dessert for mint chocolate lovers.

The main ingredients for mint choco pie are cacao, mint, and vanilla cream.

If you look at the dessert cut in half, you'll see that the marshmallow is covered in mint and vanilla cream and moist cacao chocolate bread covers the cream in the center.

The top is coated in mint, and mint chocolate and black cookies are topped on top.

Overall, the bread was very soft and fluffy.

The flavor of the mint overpowered the taste of chocolate and had a cooling effect in my mouth.

If you are a fan of mint chocolate, you'll love this product.

# Dr. You Gummy

Dr. You collagen gummy packet

Price: 1,500 won

Orion Dr. You is a Korean snack brand that is famous for launching many products that focus on health and well-being, which is rare among snack brands.

Dr. You recently released a line of healthy gummies in June.

Dr. You gummies consist of three flavors: zinc, vitamins, and collagen which help fill our daily nutrients.

You can take care of your health while enjoying gummies without taking nutritional supplements.

The collagen tasted like plain pomegranate gummies but it wasn't too sweet or sour.

It didn't have an artificial taste, so it was very delicious and good to eat as a healthy snack.

7-Eleven

new releases at 7-eleven for June

# Watermelon Jelly

Round Watermelon jelly on a wooden tray

Price: 1,000 won

Watermelon is a representative summer fruit!

7-Eleven launched watermelon jelly for the summer. It's similar to Trolli Earth Jelly, which was popular on YouTube and social media, but it's a green watermelon.

If you take off the plastic wrapper, you'll see a green round jelly.

The watermelon stripes are only painted on the plastic wrappers.

The chewy jelly had a sweet watermelon and melon scent.

There was red syrup inside to imitate a watermelon.

It actually tasted disappointing though. I thought it would taste like sweet watermelon, but you could only taste artificial sweetness.

Besides, it was so sweet and sour I didn't enjoy its stimulating taste.

But if you want to try a cute jelly just for fun, feel free to grab this one!

# Jeju Milk Bingsu

Jeju milk bingsoo from 7-eleven

Price: 3,000 won

There are a lot of shaved ice products released at convenience stores, due to the fact that it's summer.

7-Eleven launched Jeju Milk Bingsu, which contains a fresh and savory taste of Jeju milk.

I like milk-flavored shaved ice with classic red beans rather than fruity shaved ice, so I was really looking forward to trying this out.

Jeju milk shaved ice with red beans and rice cakes

When you open the lid, there are red beans and rice cakes, along with milk shaved ice.

I tried the shaved ice together with red beans and rice cakes and it was very refreshing.

The rice cakes were chewy and the red beans were very sweet, so it was the perfect shaved ice.

If you want to have some shaved ice in the summer but don't feel like ordering a big portion for yourself at a cafe, you can stop by a 7-Eleven and grab this one.

# Kku-ing Chip

Kku-ing chips on a wooden tray from 7-eleven

Price: 1,500 won

These chips are newly launched by Lotte, for people who like to drink alone at home.

They are made with seafood so it has a salty taste.

It also contains the same amount of protein in 1 egg so it can be described as a healthy snack.

As soon as I opened the bag, I could smell salty squid.

The chips had a very crispy texture so it was fun to bite. It's a snack for those who like to drink alone in the comfort of their homes, so it's a great combination with beer.

Next time I plan on opening a can of beer alone at home, I'll definitely be buying this to enjoy!
