Have you ever wanted to visit a filming location while watching Korean dramas or movies?

Today, I'm going to introduce filming locations all over the country that you can visit!

Prepare your cameras and let's take a tour together.


Sunshine Land
선샤인 랜드

Sunshine Land is widely known as the main filming location for the drama, Mr. Sunshine. 

The open set here perfectly recreates Korea during the 1900s to 1950s.

It will make you feel like you had traveled back in time!

Here, you can even rent vintage clothes that were worn back then.

You can even find clothes that were worn by the main characters in the drama, so it would be a fun experience to recreate your favorite scenes while wearing their clothes, right?


Yongin Daejannggeum Park

Yongin Daejanggeum Park is the main filming location for popular MBC historical dramas such as Dae Jang Geum, Jumong, Queen Seondeok, Lee San, Wind of the Palace, and The Moon Embracing the Sun.

Recently, it became a huge hit as it was known that Agust D, BTS Suga's "Daechwita" music video was filmed here as well.

It's widely known to be a huge park that's very well maintained.

From the areas where commoners used to live in the past, to grand palaces, everything has been meticulously created that you can easily spend the whole day here.

Suncheon Drama Filming

Suncheon Drama Filming Location is an open set area where many Korean dramas and movies were filmed.

The most well-known dramas are Bread, Love and Dreams, Giant, A Werewolf Boy.

This place consists of different villages during three different periods. 

It is said that the reproduction of Suncheon Eupnae street in the 60s and Bongcheon-dong Daldong in Seoul in the 80s, are of high quality!

It's also a popular place to go on dates where you can rent old school uniforms. 


Iksan Prison Set

This is the only prison set in Korea!

Not only have Korean movies such as Save Me, Miracle in Cell No. 7 were filmed here but also the American sci-fi series Sense8 was filmed as well.

The prison set, which consists of two floors and a front yard, perfectly recreates a prison.

Cells, solitary cells, interrogation rooms, torture rooms, and more areas that will chill your spine can be found here for you to experience.

Even if you don't recognize any of the movies that were filmed here, you can still rent out a prison or police uniform just for the experience!

It's often visited by many Koreans as it's the only place that offers this experience, with the exception of an actual prison.


Hapcheon Movie Theme Park

Hapcheon Movie Theme Park is famous for being the best open set that recreates Korea from the 1920s to the 1980s. 

A total of 190 movies and dramas were filmed here, including Bridal Mask, Stranger, Mr. Sunshine, Assassination, Sunny, A Taxi Driver.

You can see and experience Korea within the span of 60 years in one space.

So it would be fun to spend the day here and take pictures, right?


Seodongyo Theme Park

This theme park was built after the famous Korean historical drama Ballad of Seodongyo, which aired in 2005, was filmed. 

Other historical dramas such as Love In The Moonlight, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, and The Legend were also filmed here.

This is a gigantic open park that has areas of not only the Joseon Dynasty but also the Goryeo and Three Kingdoms period as well.

If you want to look at some beautiful traditional Korean houses and their architecture, this is a great place to visit.


Cheonghaepogu Filming Site

This is a popular filming location in Wando, the southern tip of Korea.

It is not an exaggeration to state that most historical dramas set near the ocean were filmed here such as Emperor of the Sea, Jumong, Dae Jo-yeong, Roaring Currents, and The Pirates.

If you are a nature lover you will love this place as well!

It's not only decorated with beautiful hanok but there is a view of the South Sea and a beautiful camellia forest.


Mungyeongsaejae Open Set

This is a very large filming location where the series Six Flying Dragons, The Fortress, and more historical series and movies were filmed.

There are many historical houses and even the Gwanghwamun and Gyeongbokgung are recreated.

There are many fun things to enjoy here for those who love Korean historical dramas.

The most popular thing to experience here is to wear the clothes that the kings and queens of the Joseon Dynasty used to wear. 


Naju Image Theme Park

Originally created as the filming location for Jumong, which aired in 2006, Naju Image Theme Park is where numerous dramas and movies were filmed.

Some of the movies include The Legend, Lee San, Wind of the Palace, Along with the Gods: The Two Worldsand Guardian: The Lonely and Great God.

Here, tourists can enjoy a variety of experiences such as trying on traditional costumes, archery, and various workshops.

It will make you feel as if you were the main character of a historical Korean drama.

This is a theme park where you can experience the culture of Goguryeo. 

This place has been used as a filming location for various historical dramas since The Legend, which was set during the Goguryeo period.

The Korean Folk Village lets you experience traditional Korean houses and culture to the fullest.

There are a lot of tourists that visit this place.

Famous dramas such as Sungkyunkwan Scandal and The Moon Embracing the Sun were filmed here as well.

If you are a fan of the drama Descendents Of The Sun, you need to visit the filming location in Gangwon-do.

It's so much fun to look at the buildings, helicopters, and tanks from the series.

Plus, they also rent out military and nursing uniforms so you can wear them and take pictures.
