Yoo Yeon-seok became a beloved Korean actor among Korean and international fans from his tall and firm physique, as well as his great acting.

Since he made his acting debut on Oldboy, Yoo Yeon-seok extended his filmography from numbers of dramas and movies, which made him to be well-known to the mainstream audience. Let's take a look at the drams he played main roles in, and recap some of the memorable scenes by taking a look at the filming locations!

Reply 1994

Reply 1994 is part of the famous nostalgic Reply series which also includes Reply 1997 and Reply 1988.

Yoo Yeon-seok plays the role of Chilbong. Even though he is only a freshman, he is the number one pitcher of Yonsei University's baseball team. He has a crush on Na-jung (Go Ara), and the drama makes the viewers guess who will become Na-jung's husband among the male characters.

Hyochangwon-ro 25-gil This street lies on the way home to Sinchon House in Reply 1994.

In episode 8, Na-jung fetches Sseureki and Chilbong just tags along with them. While they are walking on the way back home, Na-jung and Chilbong discuss what love is, and when Sseureki slowly joins in the conversation, Chilbong gets the brief idea that Na-jung is actually in love with Sseureki (Jung Woo).  

This street is located mid-way between Seoul's neighborhoods of Yongmun and Wonhyoro 2-dong in the Yongsan district. As you can see from the pictures above and below, the road here looks a bit different compared to the scene from Reply 1994.

Chuncheon Baseball Stadium  

In episode 7, Chilbong plays in the finals as the pitcher of Yonsei University. After the win of the final game, Chilbong gives the game-winning ball to Na-jung, which means a lot to him. 

This baseball stadium is used by the Yonsei University baseball team as their training place for their fall league.

The production team filmed the baseball game scene for two separate days. Also, a worker from the National Sports Promotion Corporation commented on how Yoo Yeon-seok seemed like he had lots of practice before the scene and was very compatible with the amateur baseball team.

Pyeongchang-dong Mansion No. 26-4

This house appears as the 'Sinchon Boardinghouse' in Reply 1994. This is where all the main characters including Chilbong hang out and have drinking parties together!

This mansion is located in Seoul's Pyeongchang-dong in the Jongno District. The entrance gate is located on the east side of the property and the appearance of the gate has been changed since the filming.

Uijeongbu Intercity Bus Terminal This is where Chilbong and Na-jung kiss for the second time. (Na-jung doesn't remember her first kiss with Chilbong from drinking too much with the friends). After staying for only a few hours in Samcheonpo, Chilbong has to take a late bus to Seoul to make his important morning interview. 

Na-jung insists on taking him to the terminal and they make their way with arms linked together. While they were waiting for the bus, Na-jung wonders why Chilbong bothered to take a six-hour bus ride to spend a few hours here in the suburb.

To this question, Chilbong asks her if she is dumb and continues to confess how he has romantic feelings to her. Also, he adds that Chilbong is aware of how Na-jung is in love with someone else, and this confession isn't asking for her feelings in return.

This scene was filmed at Uijeongbu Intercity Bus Terminal; that is the local bus terminal that connects to a smaller suburb cities in Korea.

Warm and Cozy

From Warm and Cozy, Yoo Yeon-seok's character is a chef restauranteur. Baek Gun-woo (Yoo Yeon-seok) is a laidback person with a wealthy family, who only does what he feels like doing, which includes opening a restaurant in Jeju, simply because Jeju is where he first met his crush.

Meanwhile, Lee Jung-joo (Kang So-ra) is a hard worker and struggled for the whole life, but never gave up until something critical happened to her life, and makes her move to Jeju spontaneously. Their opposite personalities attract each other to a romantic relationship in a cozy little restaurant on Jeju Island. 

Bomnal Cafe

The restaurant 'Maendorong Ttottot' is owned by Baek Gun-woo, which is one of the main filming locations in the drama. 

The Bomnal Cafe is located right at the Pacific Ocean in the village of Aewol in Jeju Island.

Aewol area became even more popular after G-Dragon opening his cafe in that area. You will be able to see G-Dragon's former cafe, Monsant from Bomnal Cafe; but lots of locals find the drinks and atmosphere at Bomnal Cafe is cozier with a better taste of drinks and desserts.

Jeju International Airport 

This is where Baek-Gun-woo brings Lee Jung-joo to this airport in episode 1, when she returns back to Seoul after her visit.

Jeju International Airport is the island's main airport and South Korea's second-largest airport after Inchon International Airport.

Lighthouse in Jeju 

Lee Jung-joo and Baek Gun-woo meet here and hug each other at the end of episode 8 when both have understood that Gun-woo thought that Jung-joo will die soon - which was not the case. 

This name-less lighthouse is located at the Shinchang Windmill Coastal Road in the village of Sinchang-ri in Jeju.

There are numbers of cute lighthouses that are not as well-known to travelers in Jeju, but no worries! While you are doing a road trip along the coastal road in Jeju, you will be able to find various sizes of lighthouses to take pictures. Don't forget to check them out!

Seopjikoji

Seopjikoji is one of the most famous sightseeing destinations for tourists.

Lee Jung-joo and Baek Gun-woo accidentally slept in while they were planning on watching the sunrise at Seopjikoji. When Lee Jung-joo gets disappointed by herself, Baek Gun-woo drives and they run down the roads to catch the sunrise! It is such a cute scene. Seopjikoji is located at the end of the eastern shore of Jeju Island and boasts a fantastic scenery.

"Seopji" is the old name for the area, and "koji" is Jeju dialect meaning of a sudden bump on land. It's even more beautiful in April when yellow canola flowers are in full bloom just like the photo below.

Location: 제주 서귀포시 성산읍 고성리 

Mr. Sunshine

Mr. Sunshine centers around Eugene Choi (Lee Byung-hun), who was born into slavery in Joseon but escaped to the U.S. after the U.S. expedition to Joseon. While Eugene Choi falls in love with the aristocrat's daughter, Go Ae-shin (Kim Tae-ri), the ruthless samurai, Goo Dong-mae (Yoo Yeon-seok) also falls in love with Ae-shin. 

From this drama, Yoo Yeon-seok plays the character of one of the lowest hierarchy level, who were not even regarded as human; which made him abandon his own country. However, once he realized that he was in love with Ae-shin, he had to come back to Joseon, just for her. 

Sunshine Studio 

The most important scenes were filmed in this location, at Sunshine Studio. The market area where boulangerie is from the first time Goo Dong-mae sees Go Ae-shin since they were children. Other than this, there were more important scenes filmed such as the bridge, Hwalollu, the pawnshop and so much more. 

If you were a big fan of Goo Dong Mae and Mister Sunshine drama, I highly suggest visiting this place!

Hospital Playlist

Hospital Playlist is one of the most recent drama that Yoo Yeon-seok filmed!

This drama tells the story of doctors and nurses working at Yulje Medical Center, focusing on the five doctors, who have been friends since they entered medical school in 1999.  Yoo Yeon-seok played the character of Ahn Jung-won, as an assistant professor of pediatric surgery. He is a very heartwarming doctor, who loves taking care of children at the hospital. 

Hanam Pig House (Gangnam Branch)

This restaurant is when Seok-hyung (Yoo Dae-myung) brings his friends to this restaurant after his mother tells him to treat them with good food to show gratitude for checking up on her while she is admitted to the hospital in episode 9 from Hospital Playlist. 

This Gangnam branch of a chain restaurant, Hanam Pig House is located in Nonhyeon, which is the neighborhood of Gangnam district.

Hallym University (Dongtan Sungshim Hospital)

This hospital appears in episode 1 as Kangwoon Medical Center where Jeong-won and Jung-wan (Jung Kyung-Ho) work as professors before they transfer to Yulje Medical Center. 

This is one of the biggest hospitals out of five under the governance of Hallym University Medical Center, as well as one of the largest medical institutions in South Korea and located in Dongtan New Town.

 Su Noraebang (Luxury Hongdae) 

Ik-jun (Jo Jeong-Seok) takes his son in front of this noraebang (karaoke), and show him where he performed singing for the very first time. Then, he takes the flashback of him with his medical school friends, singing together in one of the rooms in the noraebang. 

On a side note, out of the few songs that they have performed from this scene, 'Aloha' by Jo Jung-Seok took No.1 on music charts upon its release and it's kept ranking high since then. 

Su Noraebang is a famous karaoke chain in Korea. There are two locations in Hongdae, and the one from Hospital Playlist is the 'Luxury' one. They are well known for various types and sizes of the room; they even have two-story rooms as well.
