What to see in Jeonju Hanok Village

As you can see, all of Jeonju's must-see destinations are located within the Hanok Village. You'll have plenty of time to hit them all on your day trip.

Jeonju Hanok Village Must-See Destinations | 1. Jeondong Cathedral

Jeondong Cathedral is located in the entrance of the village. It was built for the first Catholics in Joseon in 1908. The building has been preserved for over 100 years now. Take a look inside, it's open from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Inside Jeondong Cathedral

Misas still take place here, so don't forget to keep quiet and respectful when visiting.

The cathedral is also a famous photo spot of Jeonju Hanok Village. A lot of visitors like to take photos here wearing hanbok.

Jeonju Hanok Village Must See Destinations | 2. Jeonju Hanok Village Main Street

Jeonju Hanok Village's main street is always busy. A lot of cool stores and eateries are gathered here.

There's always a line in front of famous eateries. Out of everything, make sure you try the grilled cheese! It's literally a piece of cheese that's grilled topped with some condensed milk. It's rich, gooey, and delicious!

It was so good that I had five..

The village streets are so pretty. There are more than 600 hanoks here, perfect to take pictures among!

Jeonju Hanok Village Must-See Destinations | 3. Gyeonggijeon Hall

Gyeonggijeon Hall is the building that holds the portrait of Joseon's King Taejo(太祖). It's 600 years old.

The most famous area at Gyeonggijeon Hall is the bamboo forest. This is the filming location for the K-drama Love in the Moonlight (starring Park Bogum and Kim Yoojeong) as well as the infamous film Masquerade!

If you have a hanbok outfit on, you can enjoy the beautiful Hall grounds even more!

Jeonju Hanok Village Must-See Destinations | 4. SeungGwangJae

SeungGwangJae is the home of Joseon's last royal grandchild and is now a cultural center where lectures on Korean traditions, culture, and history take place as well as experiences such as bibimbap making, Korean tea ceremony, etc.

The street right outside SeungGwangJae is honestly a little more famous than the actual house. This is because it's a great backdrop for photos.   If you have hanbok on, don't forget to take photos right here!

Jeonju Hanok Village Must-See Destinations | 5. Jeongju Hyanggyo

Jeonju Hyanggyo is an education facility built during the Goryeo dynasty as a Confucian temple and for the purpose of cultivating top talent for the country. There's no one accurate record of when exactly the school was built, but it is still a historical site that has been preserved for several centuries.

It's a beautiful area that's an amazing mesh of nature and hanok architecture. It's popular among locals for wedding photos as well as for drama filming location!

It's especially beautiful in the autumn when the entire area is coved in yellow Ginko leaves.

Jeonju Hanok Village Must-See Destinations | 6. Omokdae

Omokdae, located in a hill nearby the Hanok Village, is where the royal family would often hold banquets. It's also an observatory from which you can see all of Jeonju Hanok Village!

The view of the village is beautiful on a clear day!

Jeonju Hanok Village Must-See Destinations | 7. Nambu Market

Of course, there's a traditional market at Jeonju Hanok Village. Located right across from Jeondong Cathedral, the market is home to stores that sell everything; from small props to street food!

I recommend coming at night. That's when the night market opens!

All the street food you could ever imagine is on sale at the night market: Korean, Japanese, Western, and every sort of dessert.

There is just so much variety. A lot of these are open during the day as well; it's worth to check out the market, even if it's not at night.

The red food on the right is spicy tripe, a super famous dish of Nambu Market. If you want to try that Korean spice, try this out!

The desserts are not only varied, but they're all so pretty as well! Nambu Market really has it all~

Immerse yourself in the liveliness and dynamism of Korea at the Nambu Market!
