Jean Sheinfield
As a traveler who recently visited Korea for a transfer and stayed there for 48 hours, I can confidently say that my short stay left me with unforgettable memories of the country's vibrant culture, delicious cuisine, and breathtaking scenery.
Here are some of my personal feelings on Korea:
1. Mouth-watering Cuisine: Korean cuisine is known for its bold flavors and diverse range of dishes. From savory barbecued meats to spicy stews and noodle soups, there is something to please every palate. Some must-try dishes include bibimbap, bulgogi, kimchi, and Korean fried chicken.
2. Modern and Traditional Fusion: Korea is a country that embraces modernity while preserving its traditional culture. You can see this fusion in the cityscape of Seoul, where modern skyscrapers and ancient palaces coexist side by side. You can also see it in the country's fashion, music, and entertainment industry, which have gained global recognition in recent years.
3. Warm and Welcoming People: Koreans are known for their warm and welcoming nature, making it easy for foreigners to feel at home in the country. Whether you're trying to navigate the subway system or asking for recommendations on where to eat, you can always count on locals to go out of their way to help you.

First Day in Korea:
On my first day in Korea, I decided to explore Seoul, the country's bustling capital city. My first stop was Gyeongbokgung Palace, an iconic landmark that showcases Korea's rich history and traditional architecture. I was fascinated by the intricate details of the palace and the colorful costumes of the guards during the changing of the guard ceremony.
Afterwards, I explored the charming neighborhoods of Insadong and Bukchon Hanok Village. I was captivated by the traditional Korean houses and narrow alleyways that made me feel like I was walking back in time. I tried some delicious Korean snacks and tea in one of the cozy tea houses, which gave me a chance to rest and soak in the local atmosphere.
As the sun began to set, I headed to Myeong-dong, a lively shopping district with countless shops and street food vendors. I was impressed by the trendy fashion boutiques and cosmetic shops, and couldn't resist trying some of the mouth-watering street food, such as crispy fried chicken and hotteok.
My first day in Korea gave me a taste of the country's rich culture, history, and street life, and I couldn't wait to see what else Korea had in store for me.
Second Day in Korea:
On my second day in Korea, I decided to explore more of Seoul's modern attractions. I started my day by taking a walk along the beautiful Cheonggyecheon Stream, which is a scenic oasis in the middle of the bustling city. The stream is lined with parks, gardens, and bridges, making it a great place to relax and enjoy the fresh air.
Next, I visited the iconic Dongdaemun Design Plaza, a futuristic building designed by the renowned architect Zaha Hadid. The building is a hub for fashion, design, and art, and features exhibitions, shops, and cafes. I was impressed by the unique and innovative design of the building, and spent several hours exploring the various galleries and shops.
Afterwards, I took a cable car to Namsan Tower, which offers stunning views of the city. The tower is located on top of a hill and is accessible by cable car or a steep hike. Once I reached the top, I was greeted by panoramic views of the city skyline and surrounding mountains.
In the afternoon, I headed to Hongdae, a trendy neighborhood known for its street performances, live music, and shopping. I was impressed by the vibrant atmosphere and eclectic mix of shops and cafes. I spent several hours exploring the various boutiques and street vendors, and even caught a street performance by a local band. Then I went back to Incheon International Airport.
My second day in Korea gave me a taste of the country's modern attractions, vibrant street life, and exciting nightlife. From traditional palaces to futuristic buildings and trendy neighborhoods, Korea truly has something for everyone.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, Korea is a country that offers a unique blend of traditional culture, beautiful landscapes, mouth-watering cuisine, and modernity. My short visit to Korea has left me with a desire to return and explore more of what this amazing country has to offer. I highly recommend that you add Korea to your travel bucket list and experience the country's beauty and charm for yourself.
