BLACKPINK Confirmed As 1st K-Pop Artist To Headline Coachella

BLACKPINK, GOT7 Jackson Wang, DPR LIVE, and DPR IAN announced as part of Coachella's 2023 lineup!

K-Pop girl group BLACKPINK has been confirmed to headline this year's Coachella, one of the biggest music festivals in the U.S. Coachella will be taking place at Indio, California for 2 weekends in April (Weekend 1: April 14-16, Weekend 2: April 21-23). BLACKPINK will be performing both weekends on Saturday, April 15th & Saturday, April 22nd!

Other K-pop acts in ther 2023 lineup include GOT7 Jackson Wang and DPR LIVE + DPR IAN! World-famous artists Bad Bunny and Frank Ocean are also set to headline this year. You can check out the full lineup below!

This is very exciting news because although Korean artists have performed at Coachella before, this is the first time a Korean group will be headlining! It isn't BLACKPINK's first time at Coachella, as they performed at the festival back in 2019 and absolutely killed it. Check out one of their performances below!


Many other famous K-Pop artists have also performed at Coachella! Here's a brief timeline of K-pop's history in Coachella.

2011: Now disbanded, K-Indie band 'EE' was the first Korean act to perform at Coachella.

2016: Epik High made history as the first K-Pop group to perform at Coachella!

2019: BLACKPINK, Hyukoh, & Jambinai created lots of excitement when announced as part of the Coachella lineup.

2020: Epik High was set to make history again as the first K-Pop group to perform twice at Coachella, and BIGBANG was to make a long-awaited comeback at the festival, but unfortunately the event was canceled due to COVID-19.

2021: Canceled due to COVID-19.

2022: CL, who surprised the crowd with the rest of the 2NE1 members, gave an amazing performance at the festival's return after 2 years. Other Korean artists included Epik High, who were finally able to give their second performance, BIBI & Yoon Mirae, GOT7 Jackson Wang, aespa, and Korean-American musician Japanese Breakfast.
