FAQ1. What's the difference between dual laser hair removal and general laser hair removal?

General laser hair removal uses one wavelength band (808nm, 755nm, 1064nm) at a time. You'll be treated using one of the three laser machines at the clinic: Alie Laser, GentleMax Pro, Aileen.

Dual laser hair removal uses Splendor X which boasts bilateral, synchronized emission of 755nm and 1064nm wavelengths. The clinic states it's been effective on Caucasian clients with lighter-coloured hair.

Dual laser hair removal has a cooling system, minimizing pain that may be caused by the laser.

Currently, there are only 3 Splendor X models in Korea.

FAQ2. Why is dual laser hair removal only available to women?

Men generally have thicker hair roots than women, so general hair removal procedures should suffice.

Dual laser hair removal for male clients is available upon request.

Dual hair laser removal prices for male clients are: 1.5 x general hair removal prices.

FAQ3. What if I'm a female client who wants a general hair removal procedure?

Tatoa has been treating foreign clients for over 11 years.

Based on their experience, general hair removal procedures proved to be less effective on female Caucasian clients as the laser absorption rate at the hair root of light brown-coloured hair is low.

General hair removal procedures for female Caucasian clients are not recommended.

FAQ4. Can you perform laser hair removal procedures on dark skin?

Clients with dark skin are at a higher risk of burns from laser treatments, so hair removal procedures may not be possible.

The clinic will decide whether to proceed or not after an initial consultation.

Things To Keep In Mind

Reservations must be made at least 3 days prior to your visit. 

Reservation changes and cancellations are possible up to 3 days prior to the reservation date.

Please check the name of the person who made the reservation by visiting the hospital 10 minutes before the day of reservation. 

To maximize the effect of the hair removal, it is recommended to proceed 4 to 5 times. 

The skin becomes reddish and swollen for 1 to 2 days after hair removal. Don't worry, it will disappear on it's own. (If there is any issues, please contact the hospital immediately) 

You can shower and apply makeup from the day of the procedure, and avoid sauna, bathing, or swimming for about 1 week after the procedure. (No tanning)

Apply sunscreen daily and avoid direct sun exposure. Pigmentation may occur after the procedure, but it will disappear naturally. 

Since the treated area may become dry, it is recommended to apply a moisturizer. 

After the hair removal procedure, the remaining hair will fall out gradually over 1 to 2 weeks. 

Until the next treatment, do not pluck or wax, but you can shave. 

A reaction similar to folliculitis may occur, which will improve on its own after 2-3 weeks. (If there is any serious issues, please contact the hospital immediately).

Scabs, blisters, and discoloration may occur, but very rare! (If it becomes serious, please contact the hospital immediately).

Our Visit

The clinic is clean and comfortable.

Check in by telling the front desk your name and procedure. I was there for laser hair removal.

The 1st consultation begins after you've checked in. Once I said that I wanted laser hair removal for my arms and underarms, the consultant explained for a bit about the procedures. She told me that the procedure would be about 10 minutes and there shouldn't be much pain. 

The second consultation is with the medical professional that will be doing the procedure. This is when you can ask all the technical questions about the procedure.

After the consultations, you're asked to change into a robe. A tank top, shorts, and a robe is provided. The power room has a drier and brush if you need to freshen up after the procedure.

I read some comic books while waiting for the procedure. The clinic has a really comfortable vibe, so I wasn't nervous at all while waiting.

The prep stage before the procedure begins. My eyes were covered to protect them from the laser, and the procedure area was iced so that any pain would be minimized.

The underarm was the first area. It feels like a slight pinch, and then there's a flash of light. It was a lot less painful than what I had expected. 

The professional was very thorough. A calming gel was applied after the laser.

The procedure is done. Looks clean right? There isn't much redness either, perhaps because the professional was so good. 

Finally, the consultant lets you know things that you should avoid after the procedure. Showers and makeup are fine, but swimming, saunas, baths, and sun tanning should be avoided. I felt very well taken care of! If you're looking to get laser hair removal, Tatoa Clinic is a definite recommendation!
