When you visit Daegu, you must enjoy the cheap local food. Today, I'll be introducing you to "Tongkeun Tongsam(통큰통삼)", located near Jungangno Station, which brings incredible value at amazingly low prices.

Why do we keep saying high-value-low-prices? Because for the same portion of meat in Seoul, you would have to pay a few thousand won. But in Daegu's "Tongkeun Tongsam", it's much cheaper than what you would expect. Let's check it out together!

No, you're not seeing things. The price for one person is ₩11,400, for unlimited supply of meat and access to the self-service bar. Tongkeun Tongsam was known for its cheap prices and good supply of meat, which has spread throughout Daegu.

Even though I was here on a rainy day, there were still so many people. Needless to say, everyone enjoyed the cheap, yet rich food.

Most BBQ places have similar self-service bars, but Tongkeun Tongsam has a special mustard sauce as well!

There's also plenty of meat. Bacon, "moksal" (neck meat), and "samgyupsal" (pork belly) are all available!

Does this make you hungry? To eat such portions of meat in Seoul would cost you at least ₩12,000. The only place that might be able to compete with Tongkeun Tongsam is probably "Dwaeji Sanghoe(돼지상회)" in Hongdae.

Other than the usual side-dishes, the self-service bar here even has enoki mushrooms, rice cakes, and small sausages! It's actually not every day that you get to eat grilled rice cakes to your heart's content, so you definitely should try. 

Every time you come to a Korean BBQ, they say that you must completely fill your grill in the first round and take a picture. Tongkeun Tongsam is no exception; the visual of the grill full of the various meats, sausages, and rice cakes was very satisfying.

The grill cooks the meat to a beautiful golden color, and it's almost time to flip over the meat and cook the other side. There's no big secret to eating BBQ in Korea; you just cut the meat when it's cooked to a golden brown, and then you wait for the slices of meat to cook through.

Was it just me who couldn't resist trying to grab a piece of meat from the picture? The mouthfuls of meat, rice cakes, and sausages are irresistible, and makes you just want to keep on going. That's the spirit of Daegu's Tongkeun Tongsam.

Garlic, meat, sauce, and kimchi, wrapped together in sesame leaves for one big bite is a wonderful treat.

The price is really cheap; if you find that the meat is not enough for you, you can also add cold noodles. Steamed eggs are also available and are unimaginably cheap. They're just ₩1,000! (Hongdae's meat is priced at a ridiculous ₩3,000.)

Next time, when you're in Daegu, be sure to try out "Tongkeun Tongsam". In addition to samgyeopsal (pork belly), they also have lots of different delicious meats.
