What do you want to see the most during Spring? Many people will say that the cherry blossoms are the first thing that they want to see the most.

The cherry blossom season comes once every year in Korea, but do you know where to go to enjoy these cherry blossoms? A lot of people come to visit Korea every April and there are a lot of festivals besides just cherry blossoms which is why I have prepared this summary today.

2019 South Korea Spring Festival 

1. Jeju Canola Flower Festival (제주 유채꽃축제)

• Dates : 2019 April 4th - 2019 April 7th
• Address : 381-15, Noksan-ro, Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do

Jeju Island is the first place in South Korea to enjoy spring with winter ending the fastest. Canola Flower's make the whole island go yellow and a festival celebrating these flowers are held in April. Every year, a lot of people come to Jeju Island to participate in this festival where they can do a variety of experience or see performances.

2. Yangpyeong Sansuyu Hanwoo Festival (양평 산수유한우축제)

• Dates : 2019 April 6th - 2019 April 7th
• Address : 1, Sansuyu 1-gil, Gaegun-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do

Every Spring, the Yangpyeong county that is famous for their beautiful scenery holds the Yangpyeong Sansuyu Hanu Festival. Here, you can not only look at flowers but also Korean cattle and experience various unique experiences on the mountain.

3. Sinan Tulip Festival (신안튤립축제)

• Dates : 2019 April 12th - 2019 April 21st
• Address : 178, Daegwang Beach, Imja-myeon, Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do

Sinan will hold the Tulip Festival for around 10 days at the Sinan Park. It is looking at its 10th year since it first happened in 2008. The theme of this festival is the 'Beautiful Combination of the Ocean, Beach, and 3 Million Tulips' and is held in the 12km long beach of Daekwang Beach, and Tulip Park with a variety of flowers from tulips, narcissus, hyacinth and more available. With more than 20 kinds of flowers, visitors are sure to enjoy the beautiful scenery here.

There are various structures set up in the form of windmills, parasols, and observation decks. There are also various performances people can see when they come here. There are various cultural activities ranging from a shrimp exhibition to a calligraphy exhibition allowing visitors to get immersed into Korean culture while enjoying the beautiful scenery at the same time.

In addition to these, there are notable attractions near the festival location such as the Eomeori Beach, Daedun Mountain, and more. There are also a wide variety of tasty food available here such as seaweed, sesame, and shrimp paste in which you can try. I believe all of these amazing experiences mentioned above is the reason why visitors will keep on visiting Sinan.

4. Taean Tulip Festival (태안 세계튤립축제)

• Dates : 2019 April 13th - 2019 May 12th
• Address : 400, Kkotjihaean-ro, Anmyeon-eup, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do South Korea

Taean, which holds a Tulip Festival every year has aims to improve the 2019 Taean Tulip Festival by planning more photo zones than last year and various flower trails.

The gorgeous flowers that make up a trail make visitors feel as if they are in the middle of a fantasy movie and is truly beautiful.

The Taean Tulip Festival starting from April 13th, 2019 is sure to make you have a romantic trip.

5. Gunpo Royal Azalea Festival (군포 철쭉축제)

• Dates : 2019 April 24th - 2019 April 28th
• Address : 1152-10, Sanbon-dong, Gunpo-si, Gyeonggi-do

Gunpo holds a beautiful festival in their downtown area where visitors can make beautiful memories looking at the sea of beautiful pink flowers.

6. Goyang International Flower Festival (고양국제꽃박람회)

• Dates : 2019 April 26th - 2019 May 12th
• Address : 595, Hosu-ro, Ilsan-dong, Goyang, Gyeonggi-do

The Goyang International Flower Festival is a global festival that was started in 1997 that has accumulated a total of 6.2 million visitors. This year it meets its 12th time the festival has been held and starts from April 26th - May 12th.

At the festival, around 320 types of flowers from around 36 countries are shown to show recent flower trends around the world. Visitors can also see rare flowers they can't regularly see in the indoors and outdoors garden. During the festival, visitors can also experience planting flowers and buy beautiful flowers in the temporary market established there.

There is a beautiful night flower garden, LED performance, K-pop performance, and more offered as night activities. You can make great memories coming here.

7. E WORLD Starlight Cherry Blossom Festival (이월드 별빛벚꽃축제)

• Dates : 2019 March 23rd - 2019 April 7th
• Address : 200, Duryu Gongwon-ro, Dalseo-gu, Daegu

E WORLD Starlight Cherry Blossom Festival is the only cherry blossom festival in Korea and is being held for the 8th time. No matter the day and night, they offer a beautiful view for people to enjoy. It is the first cherry blossom festival ever in Korea where you can see three times the amount of Cherry Trees than Yeouido and various activities happen here.

E World also installed lights to make it a more unique experience. While walking through the streets here you will feel as if you are at a new world. There are 8.3 million LED lamps that decorate E World on top of the various attractions and amusement park attractions that exist.

8. Hwagae Market Cherry Blossom Festival (화개장터 벚꽃축제)

• Dates : 2019 March 29th - 2019 March 31st
• Address : 6 Wontap 1-gil, Hwaga-myeon, Hadong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do 

In late March and early April, there are rows of white flowers that bloom. The 4.5km length road of cherry trees that Hwagae Market has is famous around Korea. This road also has the nickname of 'Wedding Road' as it is frequently visited by couples leading to the saying there is a legend that couples that come to visit will stay together forever.

9. Jinhae Gunhangje Festival (진해군항제)

• Dates : 2019 April 1st - 2019 April 10th
• Address : Tongsin-dong, Jinhae-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do

Jinhae Gunhangje Festival that happens at a naval port city happens from April 1st-10th. There are various attractions here such as a statue that commemorates General Yi Sun-sin and other performances. There are also performances by the navy which fits the Festival's idea of it being held in a naval port city.

The Navy School and Naval Jinhae Command Base which are open during only the Gunhangje Festival or other special occasions are a location you cannot miss. There is a photo exhibition, figure of the turtle ship, and other attractions you can see when visiting here.

Jinhae also has a Cherry Tree that has a Cherry Blossom Tunnel as well as a stream and cherry blossom road extending 1.5km. The 800m train track at Gyeonghwa station is also iconic. There are also parks and towers you can visit to fully experiences the cherry blossoms and trees so make sure to come check it out.

10. Yeouido Cherry Blossom Festival (영등포여의도봄꽃축제)

• Dates : 2019 April 5th - 2019 April 11th
• Address : Yeouido-ro, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul

In mid-April at Yunjung-ro at Yeouido, you can see forsythia, rhododendron, and other flowers as well as around 1400 - 1600 cherry trees which create a perfect spring festival. The roads behind the National Assembly Building are blocked allowing for people to peacefully walk around and enjoy the Spring scenery. There are also a variety of performances here so make sure to visit here in the Spring.

11. Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival (석촌호수 벚꽃축제)

• Dates : 2019 April 5th - 2019 April 12th
• Address : 148, Jamsil-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul

The Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival is a festival held every year during the spring. During the festival season, various cultural performances, experiences, street food vendors are prepared where visitors can feel the Spring.

12. Gapado Green Barley Festival (가파도청보리축제）

• Dates : 2019 March 30th - 2019 May 12th
• Address : Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do

If you walk south for 5.5km starting from Moseulpo Port of Jeju Island, you will arrive at Gapado. This is where Hamel from the Netherlands was strayed on as well as the first Korean territory that was recognized around the world. Every May, the Green Barley Festival is held and 2 ships leave from Moseulpo Port everyday to Gapado.

13. Yeongam Wangin Culture Festival (영암왕인문화축제)

• Dates : 2019 April 4th - 2019 April 7th
• Address : 440, Wangin-ro, Gunseo-myeon, Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do

Professor Wangin is a famous professor in the history of Korea and to commemorate his findings and achievements, the Wangin Culture Festival is held in the start of April every year along with the cherry blossoms. There are various performances and cultural activities held here to commemorate Professor Wangin. It is a festival where both locals and visitors celebrate together.

14. Goryeong Daegaya Experience Festival (고령대가야체험축제)

• Dates : 2019 April 11th - 2019 April 14th
• Address : 1216, Daegaya-ro, Daegaya-eup, Goryeong-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do

Daegaya (AD42~562) is a country that existed in the land Korea is in around the 4th century and has an impressive music culture stemming from the creation of the Gayageum. Looking back, Daegaya was located in the Gyeongsang area which is why his festival is held here.

Through the Goryeong Daegaya Experience Festival, visitors can experience Daegaya culture, ancient artifacts, as well as various other activities. Also you can experience farming experiences by going to nearby farms and picking fruits such as strawberries.

15. Gochang Green Barley Field Festival (고창 청보리밭축제)

• Dates : 2019 April 20th - 2019 May 12th
• Address : 158-6, Hakwon Nongjang-gil, Gongeum-myeon, Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do

Barley is a healthy source of food and is loved for the barley fields to be beautiful. Because of this, residents of Gochang farm barley fields. This is why from late April to May, there is the Gochang Green Barley Field Festival that is held. Enjoy the spacious green barley field and feel Korea's spring.

16. Icheon Ceramic Festival (이천도자기축제)

• Dates : 2019 April 26th - 2019 May 12th
• Address : 109, Doja Yesul-ro 5-beon-gil, Sindun-myeon, Icheon-si, Gyeonggi-do 

Icheon, which has over 1000 years of ceramic history hold the most iconic ceramic festival in Korea being the Icheon Ceramic Festival. Here, you can see various Korean ceramic ware and go through various experiences. Between these, drawing on ceramic ware directly after it is created is also loved by a lot of visitors.

Icheon was a famous spa location to Kings during the Joseon era (1392~1910), making it also popular to tourists to visit for a spa.

17. Mungyeong Traditional Chasabal Festival (문경전통찻사발축제)

• Dates : 2019 April 27th - 2019 May 6th
• Address : 36, Saejae 2-gil, Mungyeong-eup, Mungyeong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do 

Mungyeong is a famous city for pottery and has a history of over 900 years. Mungyeong holds the 'Mungyeong Traditional Chasabal Festival' every year and is celebrated from April 27th - May 6th in 2019. It enters its 21st year since first being celebrated in 1999. It was chosen by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to be one of the representative festivals for Korean culture.

18. Yeoju Ceramic Festival (여주도자기축제)

• Dates : 2019 April 27th - 2019 May 12th
• Address : 13 Silleuksa-gil, Yeoju-eup

Yeoju has a lot of high quality soil with clay, kaolin, and more allowing for high quality ceramics to be created. Ceramics started in Korea stemming from the Goryeo Dynasty (918~1392).

Yeoju Ceramic Festival is the first festival in Korea to have the theme of ceramics where you can make, buy, and see various ceramics even those which are made by experts and are expensive making it a unique experience if you choose to visit.
