Our Visit

Keumjundang Hanbok Rental & Outdoor Photoshoot

Today, I visited 'Keumjundang' for an outdoor hanbok snap photoshoot at Gyeongbokgung Palace. Keumjundang is renowned for its high-quality and beautifully designed hanbok, which sets it apart from other hanbok rental shops. As I stepped inside, I noticed celebrity autographs and newspaper articles, confirming its status as a prominent hanbok establishment.

Inside, a diverse collection of hanbok was displayed, offering me a wide range of options to choose from. I particularly noticed a variety of pastel-toned skirts and jackets, which added an elegant touch to the overall look.

For today, I decided to go with a 'Dangui,' a hanbok style known for its longer length and sleeves, exuding an elegant charm. The patterns on the hanbok were intricate and reminiscent of traditional hanbok designs from the past.

After selecting the hanbok, it was time to put on the inner pants and under-skirt, which are essential for achieving the desired fullness in the skirt.

There were instructions inside the dressing room, providing guidance on how to wear these layers properly.

The under-skirt was voluminous, enhancing the overall appearance when layered over the skirt.

Information about hanbok dressing guidelines was also posted inside for reference.

Once the attire was chosen and worn, it was time to call a staff member for assistance with the remaining clothing. Hanbok can be challenging to put on by oneself, but with their help, it was a smooth process.

After donning the hanbok, it was time for hairstyling. Following the provided instructions, I could choose the hairstyle that matched my hanbok.

There were four hairstyle options available, and the staff recommended a hairstyle that complemented the specific hanbok I was wearing.

The selection of hair accessories was impressive. The staff quickly styled my hair, creating a beautiful look by adding accessories and securing them in place.

Here's the final result! The 'Gache' (a traditional Korean hair accessory) added elegance and a touch of royalty to the overall appearance. It might feel a bit heavy on the head, but it gave a fuller and more luxurious look, especially when viewed from the back.

With hair and hanbok preparations complete, it was time to select additional accessories and jewelry that would complement the chosen hanbok.

Matching accessories were available to choose from.

A wide variety of 'Norigae' (traditional Korean ornaments) was also on display. Norigae ornaments can be attached to the jacket or skirt, enhancing the overall look.

Next, it was time to put on 'Deot' (Korean traditional socks), completing the outfit. You can wear 'Deot' with or without regular socks underneath.

Once I put on the shoes that matched my size, I was ready! While the process of selecting and wearing hanbok may seem lengthy and complex, the assistance provided by the staff made it effortless.

Today, I decided to wear a different color of the same design hanbok as my friend for our friendship-themed snap photoshoot. I really love how it turned out!

With all preparations complete, I met with the photographer and headed to Gyeongbokgung Palace. The great thing about wearing hanbok is that the entrance fee to Gyeongbokgung Palace is free.

Throughout the photoshoot, there were moments when we reviewed the photos together. The professional touch in terms of color and composition was evident, resulting in high-quality photos.

Following the photographer's guidance, we moved to various spots for photography within Gyeongbokgung Palace. The photographer knew the best spots for capturing stunning photos, making it easy for us to follow along.

We captured a scene where we crossed through a gate, and the photographer paid meticulous attention to our poses, ensuring that the photos looked natural and elegant. It was reassuring to have professional guidance for posing.

Despite being taken with a smartphone, the weather was lovely, and the photos turned out great. The quality of the beautiful hanbok really shone through in the photos, and the pastel tones looked fantastic.

I received a total of 10 edited photos via email. I'll share the rest of the edited photos too!

From the background to the colors, the hanbok, and the poses, everything was perfect. The seamless blend of exquisite hanbok and professional photography produced these remarkable results.

If you want to experience Korean tradition and capture lifelong memories at Gyeongbokgung Palace, I highly recommend Geumjundang!

Hanok Photoshoot

I visited "Binbinjae" for an indoor hanbok snap photoshoot. Binbinjae is operated by Keumjundang and boasts a beautifully decorated interior in the traditional hanok style.

Inside, the layout forms a "ㄷ" shape with a small courtyard in the middle. The well-furnished interior alone is picturesque, making it an ideal setting for indoor photography.

For today's photoshoot, I opted for a traditional wedding concept, and I chose to wear Korean traditional wedding attire. Wearing the inner skirt and undergarments, I felt that the skirt was notably more voluminous compared to regular hanbok.

I started with a blue skirt, and the multiple layers of skirts and jackets required meticulous adjustment to achieve the desired look.

Layering a red skirt on top of the blue one added to the complexity, but the staff was there to ensure the perfect fit.

Putting on the second jacket, it struck me how intricate and time-consuming it can be to dress in traditional wedding attire.

However, Keumjundang's wedding attire is meticulously recreated from historical hanbok displayed in museums, ensuring both authenticity and high quality.

The sleeves were quite large and long, giving an extravagant appearance to the outfit. With the layered skirts and tops combined, it exuded elegance.

Now, it was time for hairstyling. The staff carefully styled my hair, ensuring that every detail was in place. If you opt for makeup, you can receive makeup services here as well.

After my hair was done, they placed the traditional Korean wedding headdress, "Gache," on top. While it may feel a bit heavy, it adds to the beauty and couldn't be missed.

Completing the look with hair accessories was the final touch. The entire process, from hair to headdress, made the traditional wedding attire truly shine.

The groom, wearing traditional hanbok, was also preparing for the photoshoot. His hair was neatly arranged and adorned with a traditional hat.

With all the preparations done, we were ready for the photoshoot. Stepping into the photo spot, we carefully adjusted our clothing. The meticulous attention to detail in dressing and posing contributed to the high-quality photos.

The bride often has solo photos taken, showcasing the layers of hanbok, even when sitting alone. The richness of the hanbok is beautifully captured, and the high-quality attire truly stands out.

We also explored various photography spots within Binbinjae. The photographer provided guidance on posing and expressions, ensuring that we looked natural and elegant in every shot. Their expertise made posing worry-free.

The photoshoot included capturing moments where we crossed through traditional doors. The photoshoot was seamless, and the results were impressive, even when taken with a smartphone. The hanbok's quality truly shone through in the photos, especially with its pastel tones.

I received a total of 10 edited photos via email. Here are the rest of the edited photos!

From the background to the colors, the hanbok, and the poses, everything was perfect. The seamless combination of exquisite hanbok and professional photography resulted in these remarkable images.

Whether you opt for a traditional wedding concept or any other theme, Binbinjae offers a unique opportunity to create cherished memories in a traditional hanok setting. Highly recommended!
