As we are about to bid farewell to 2021, let's take a look at the tvN K-Dramas we have to look forward to in 2022!

Ghost Doctor
고스트 닥터

Cast: Rain, Uee, Kim Bum, Son Na-eun

Release Date: January 3, 2022

The new tvN drama Ghost Doctor tells the story of two doctors with completely different personalities, backgrounds and qualifications, whose souls inadvertently become merged in one person.

The spirit of the highly capable but arrogant doctor attaches to the rookie after his death, leading him in performing surgery and diagnosing and treating patients. 

It will be very interesting to watch and see how everything unfolds in this medical fantasy drama, plus Rain is always delight to watch.

Twenty-Five Twenty-One
스물다섯 스물하나

Cast: Kim Tae-ri, Nam Joo-hyuk

Release Date: February 12, 2022

Set against the backdrop of Korea in 1998 and starring Kim Tae-ri and Nam Joo-hyuk, it tells the story of the encounter between a sports reporter and a female fencer. The two seem to understand one another amongst the chaos of society and youth and it draws them closer.

Our Blues
우리들의 블루스

Cast: Lee Byung-hun, Shin Min-a, Kim Woo-bin, Han Ji-min, Cha Seung-won, Lee Jung-eun

Release Date: First half of 2022

Our Blues is expected to air in the first half of the year, perhaps following Twenty-Five Twenty-One.

The plot revolves around three couples on scenic Jeju Island, and portrays the different obstacles they face in life.

Return
환혼

Cast: Lee Jae-wook, Jung So-min, Hwang Min-hyun, Arin, Yoo Jun-sang, Oh Na-ra

Release Date: First half of 2022

There was a quite a buzz already about this drama when it was announced that the female lead, rookie actress Park Hae-eun had stepped down from the role. Rumors that she was fired due to poor performance flew, though official reports say she felt the pressure of playing the lead in such a large project was too much. Still, many question what really went on behind the scenes to cause such a major change.

The announcement that Return will air in the first half of 2022 renewed discussion of the drama.

Kill Heel

Cast: Kim Ha-neul, Lee Hye-young, Kim Sung-ryung

Release Date: First half of 2022

Kill Heel explores important concepts of human nature in the form of a story of three women working at a TV home shopping network. The drive to succeed is important and necessary, but sometimes that gets taken too far, sparking anger and jealousy.

Military Prosecutor Doberman
군검사 도베르만

Cast: Ahn Bo-hyun, Jo Bo-ah

Release Date: First half of 2022

This drama, confirmed to be airing in the first half of 2022, tells the story of a man who became a military prosecutor for money who encounters a woman from a wealthy family who became a military prosecutor to seek revenge. In order to overcome all the darker parts of the military, the two must work together.

Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se Poong
조선정신과 의사 유세풍

Release Date: First half of 2022

This drama is an adaptation of the novel by the same name, which won an excellence award in 2016. There are rumors that Kim Min-jae and Kim Hyang-gi will star in it, but it seems this has not been officially confirmed yet.

The story is that of a doctor who puts patients at ease in a crazy world. Although this kind of story may seem out of place against the Joseon era backdrop, it is sure to be a great set up for an interesting story.

Big Mouth
빅 마우스

Cast: Lee Jong-suk, Yoona

Release date: May 2022

A quite popular theme "evil vs evil" is seen in this drama about a third-rate lawyer who talks a big game, but fails to deliver results. When he ends up entangled in a homocide case, he begins to find out some of the ugly truths about the upper class.

Tale of the Nine-Tailed Season 2

Cast: Lee Dong-wook, Kim Bum

Release Date: Tentatively scheduled for the first half of 2022

For the second season of Tale of the Nine-Tailed, it was confirmed that original cast members Lee Dong-wook and Kim Bum will return, but Jo Bo-ah will not.

This season will center around the past, during Japanese colonial rule. It is expected to be broadcast in the first half of the year.

Season 3 is in the works as well, but seeing how full both Lee Dong-wook and Kim Bum's schedules are at the moment, fans feel it may be a while.

Yumi's Cells Season 2

Cast: Kim Go-eun, Jinyoung

Release Date: Tentatively scheduled for the first half of 2022

The first season of Yumi's Cells, based on a webtoon, was well received and there was a lot of discussion about it, although ratings were not as expected.

In season 2, Jinyoung, who played a smaller role in season 1, will take the lead and many are excited to see what will happen.

Island
아일랜드

Cast: Kim Nam-gil, Lee Da-hee, Chae Eun-woo, Sung Joon

Release Date: TBD

Island is a fantasy story of monsters and monster hunters set on the beautiful Jeju Island.

There is no set air date yet, but already many are anticipating this exciting-sounding series.

Little Women
작은 아씨들

Cast: Kim Go-eun, Nam Ji-hyun, Wi Ha-joon

Release Date: TBD

This drama is said to be about three sisters and their struggle against one of the Korean elite chaebol families. It hasn't yet been revealed who will play the third sister, but after his Squid Game performance, many are excited to see Wi Ha-joon on screen again.
